ESY Web Builder separates the look & feel of the pages and the actual content through templates, which allow easy time and cost-effective site redesigns. A template is a special page that includes only graphics and functionality shared among several web pages. It is possible to create an unlimited number of custom templates which can include various technical features (like forms) and/or design elements.
templates are usually created via web editors like Macromedia Dreamweaver® or similar tools. ESY Web Builder lets you upload them and base new content on them. Creating and managing templates requires basic technical knowledge in areas such us HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript. templates are PHP files usually created and loaded by the webmaster.
To create a new template follow the steps below:
- Logon to ESY Web Builder
- Click templates tab at the top of the screen.
- Click New Template in the left menu. Specify an internal name for the new template and browse for the PHP file to upload here. Specify optional meta-tags for the new template (used by search engines) to retrieve your site.

- Once you have provided all details, click Save. You will then be able to create new page based on the new template.
To edit or delete a template follow the steps below:
- Logon to ESY Web Builder
- Click templates tab at the top of the screen.

- To modify a template details, click its name.
- When finished, click Save
- To delete a template, click the Delete button in the left menu:
- If you are sure to delete the selected template, you will be asked to assign all pages based on it to another template otherwise they will not display properly. They will also not function well if you assign them to a template designed for another purpose such as a news item being set to use as search engine template. Overall, unless you are reassigning pages based on one custom template to another, this action is probably not a good idea.
